[Reporter Yang Mian-Jie/Taipei Report] The 22nd Macronix Golden Silicon Awards held an awards ceremony yesterday. The team of Institute of Electronics of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University developed a phase noise measurement circuit built into the chip, which can detect the noise generated by the high-speed transmission of electronic signals, and won the biggest award in the design group “ Diamond Award and Best Creative Award. The team of Institute of Electrical Engineering of National Tsing Hua University built the world's first light field faction chip that accelerates 3D displays. It can achieve "naked vision 3D" visual experience without wearing any device, and won the gold award and the best creative award in the application group, showing young people student’s R&D capabilities !

Thirty-eight colleges and universities and 275 teams signed up for this competition. Not only Tzong-Chyuan Chen, Vice Chairman of the National Science and Technology Council attend the award ceremony, but also Yuan-Tseh Lee, an Academician of the Academia Sinica who was abroad, also recorded a video to show encouragement. Miin Wu, President of Macronix Education Foundation, hopes that the younger generation will be brave in innovation and make Taiwan a global leader in technological competitiveness.

The winning team members of the Diamond Award in the Design Group are Yi-Syuan Chung and Cheng-Lung Lee of the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. The work is " A Reference-Free Phase Noise Measurement Circuit with Background Self-Calibration ". Cheng-Lung Lee pointed out that in response to the era of 5G high-speed transmission and the continuous shrinking of the manufacturing process, in order to solve the problems of noise generated during the high-speed transmission of electronic signals, a built-in phase noise measurement circuit on the chip was developed to perform self-debugging.

National Tsing Hua University team won the gold award in the application group

Li-Qun Weng, Li-De Chen and Kai-Ping Lin of Tsing Hua University who won the gold award in the application group. The work is " Light Field Faction Acceleration Chip and Dual Layer Factored 3D Display ". Li-De Chen explained that the process included designing chips, algorithms, and screens, and it took more than one year to complete it after demolish seven to eight commercially available gaming-grade screens. In the future, it can also be miniaturized into VR glasses, which can effectively solve the problem of visual discomfort caused by existing devices.

In addition, the team composed of students Wei-Xiang Huang, Guan-Ting Zhuo and Yi-Xuan Chen of National Cheng Kung University designed a " Multi-section light reconnaissance vehicle " with "disaster relief" as the starting point. It can continuously roll up and down the stairs, breaking through the plane limit, matching with depth-sensing cameras. Not only it can penetrate into dangerous or small areas and send back images in real time in disaster relief and exploration, but also it can remotely monitor the safe living of silver-haired elders. They won the Bronze Award and Novice Award in the application group.
